Meon Valley Dog Training Club
Meon Valley Dog Training club holds classes suitable for all dog owners and their dogs, whatever their age, breed or background. Classes are designed to suit any need or ability, from basic socialisation and control to training for competitions such as obedience, agility or flyball.
The club’s training co-ordinator, Tony Liddell, is a fully qualified ADTB instructor (member number 239) and member of the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers, member number 802).
The other instructors, Sandy Liddell (APDT Number 945), Emme Hutcheson (APDT 1110) Claudine Carter and Jane Gunter are also all qualified and trained in pet dog training and between them have many years experience of training and caring for dogs.
At least two instructors will always be present at the Puppy Group and Starters Class .
More experienced dogs can enroll in the Advanced or Competition Classes .
We are proud to use scientifically proven, reward based methods, focusing on positive reinforcement rather
than punishment or correction.
Meon Valley DTC is also proud to be listed by the Kennel Club as a regional organiser and test station of their Good Citizen Dog Scheme . This Scheme is designed to educate dog owners about responsible ownership and training.
Achievement awards are given at Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold Levels. From 2011 we will also be running our own progress tests, details of which will appear here soon.

Thursday Evening - Buriton
The classes are held at Buriton Village Hall, High Street, Buriton, GU31 5RX starting at 7pm with the puppy class.
We are proud to have such excellent modern facilities, so please help keep the hall and the adjacent recreation ground clean and tidy.
Directions:- From the Causeway and A3 take Greenway Lane into Buriton passing the Master Robert pub on the left hand side.
Continue forward through the traffic calming chicane passing the Five Bells pub on the left and the school on the right.
As the road bares right look out for the white house on the right hand side, the narrow drive way immediately before the white house is the entrance to the Village Hall’s car park.
Wednesday Afternoon - Horndean
Classes are held on wednesday afternoons from 2pm at the Napier Hall, Napier Road, Horndean, PO8 9NL.
Some Questions and Answers
· Who is the best member of the family to train the dog?
We recommend that every member of the family plays a part in the dog’s training, so that the dog learns to obey everyone, and so that everyone learns how to control the dog!
· My puppy isn’t quite house trained yet, can he still come to training?
Yes, don’t worry we are used to accidents when training young dogs (and older ones!), there will be a mop, disinfectant and plenty of training advise to hand!
· Can I see a class in action before deciding to enroll my dog?
Yes, anyone is welcome to come along on a Thursday evening to watch a class and have a chat to an instructor or other club members before making a commitment to enroll on a future course.
· My dog has shown signs of aggression towards other dogs or people, can I bring him?
Unfortunately we cannot allow problem dogs into the classes, but can hopefully help you with a One-2-One training session.

We recommend that all club members (in fact all dog owners!) read Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson.
